CD Burner? Yeah or Nay

Sometime ago I purchased a Yamaha Burner CRW-F1 with Disct@2 Technology. At the time of purchase I had a cheap HP Pavillion and installed it in there.
Shortly after, I got a Dell Home PC. It only has ONE bay, and a DVD player is in it currently. I want to put the burner in the Dell, for I am tired of using floppies, and spanning.
The bay on the front of the dell is as thin as the tray that slides out. I don't want to go through unhooking everything if this burner is not going to go in there. Will my burner fit the bay, and the the same apply for my new one. Everything stays inside, and the tray just comes out? Or does dell have smaller devices.
This may be a stupid question, but that is the only reason I haven't put it in, because of the slot not looking that big.

 

the only thing i can suggest is to go to dell's web site and search it.

 

Dell being as big as it is, they could do a stupid thing like using a custom DVD player, but it is more likely that it is just some fancy plastic work making it LOOK custom. Take your case apart and look. It will be a learning experience in any case.

Indeed Give it a shot...its doesn make sence to me that your burner would not fit in there...if your burner has them, take off the side mounting brachets and just slide the burner in there, and screw it in, rather than having the Brachets snap it into place.

 

your burner should fit, most internal drives are about the same size anyways lol.
