CD Burning at slow speeds

Have Lite-On DVDRW LH 20A1P cd/dvd burner with Nero 6 and TDK cdrs on XP Pro. The slowest speed option that I am able to burn cd's is 16x. With Nero open the lowest speed shown is 8x, 10x, 12x, all the way up to 48x. When I put a blank cdr in the tray and try to burn the compilation, the Nero software changes my selection to 16x. Would like to burn as slow as possible. Is there any current or old software that will allow me to do this, other than slow speed cdr's, which I have not yet purchased, because they are hard to find.
