   My cd drive will still burn cd's, but its not reading them. its verry fustrating. i've uninstalled the driver and let windows reinstall it and it still doesn't work. I have no clue how to even start looking for a fix to this.

   Have you tried one of those CD/DVD disk cleaning things? I have had dirty drives cause problems in the past. Might be worth a shot.
