CD drive faulty - is it because of LOP?

The main CD drive doesn't seem to want to work.

My machine is shared amongst the family and seems to cause minor problems here and there, Ive recently had to post a hijack this log to get rid of LOP malware and it has recently turned up again.

Around the same time the DVD writer eject button stopped functioning, I followed the norml procedure, ie paper clip in the hole etc and got it open but the drive is now stuck open.

Is this the result of malware or can anyone suggest anything else?

I appreciate any assistance.
