I have some IBM Net Vista machines that were shipped with WIN-2k hat my employer gave me when the company closed. The drives were wiped so there is no OS now. They have CD drives installed but the drives are not recognized in CMOS. How do I nstall the os if I can't load from the cd drive? Any ideas?

    Hi Tony

Only thing off hand I can think of is to remove or pull the power and IDE cables from the CD Drives, then pop out the motherboard battery to recet CMOS, then pop the battery back and reconnect the drives and see if they are found in the BIOS.

A couple of questions. Have the cd drives ever worked? If they used to, has anything been changed with the configuration of the computer (other than no OS)?

Thanks for the reply, but I got it taken care of. Upon suggestion from other members, I removed the jumper that reset cmos and the cmos battery and everything was rediscovered upon restart. Thanks,
    Tony
