CD Drive not recognized

This problem just started today, and i have no idea what happened to cause it. My computer is just not recognizing my CD drive. It says it has drivers for it but no hardware is recognized. I checked the connections and everything, and it should be working. I also don't think it's a hardware issue because i had a virtual drive as well, that is not showing up now. Thanks for any ideas that you have...

 

Okay, i decided to uninstall the drive, because it was still visible under device manager, but said:

Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

This made it re-detect it on startup, yet now it says:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

I have tried re-installing it multiple times, and still there is this problem. I'm not sure how to edit the configuration info in the registry, any one have any idea what to do? Thanks

 

Thanks, I have just done that, and it worked. And now i know how to use microsoft support.
