cd drive quit working

    i took the side panel of and checked the connection to the motherboard and i also checked in administrative tools to see if it was registered in the disk management and its not it was working fine till i took the thing apart and cleaned it out last week didnt do anything different than before wondering if anyone one could help me.

    where the heck do you work ? why would you ever take a drive apart and clean it? Ive been w/pc's for 10years and never had to do that, ever. Remindes me of the NES days though.

    took the side panel off the computer to clean out the dust inside, didnt take the drive apart.

    in that case check the power dongle make sure its in good, and the IDE ribbon cable.
