CD Drive

I just formated my hard drive and when I try to install my games every game has some file that can't be read. Does this mean I need a new CD drive? Also if I do could you reccomend a good one. Price is not an issue just nothing over the top.

It's not while play games that it messes up, it's while installing them. Also as soon as I installed Windows it started to give me problems. Could this be a Problem with the CD drive or the OS?

 

Give a few errors that you have encounterd

 

When installing games it will say this file could not be installed or copied that is mainly it. It happens with all programs that I try to install. The only things that weren't affected by this was the drivers.

Edit: The files that can't be installed are random, I tried installing games several times to see if it was just a scratch in the disc but they have none.

try looking at the cd drive speed u may need to slow down the read speed on the cd drive.

It is set to fastest I have never messed with this before I formated my hard drive and I never had a problem with it. Any ways the speeds are:

52x,32x,16x,8x,4x,2x,1x

What do you reccomend putting it on?

try 4x to load to start and then increase it to 16x as u speed it up if it is a speed problem ur bug will re appear and u will know what the fastest speed is for that disk/program. u can just slow it down and try 4x and load the software and then reset it after u are done to the faster rate. Some of the older disk were 4x and 8x only so a newer cd drive can out run the disk.

I tried reinstalling the games at 4x and still got that some files could not be read/copied. This also happened when I was trying to install Windows.

Sorry to here it still is unable to read. If u have a second cd drive from another machine u might try it and see if the problem goes away.
This would point the trouble to the cd drive .

Maybe someone else can help out here and would have some advise or hardware recommendations.

If u can I would look into something that would read write dvd and cd's.
