CD drives no longer recognized after power disconn./reconn.?

I got a new PSU that didn't have as many 4-pin MOLEX connecters as the previous one, and for lack of a Y-adapter, i just left my 2 optical drives disconnected from the power. (I left the data cables connected thinking this wouldn't hurt). Recently I got an adapter and reconnected them, but now they aren't recognized. In the BIOS when I select the IDE controller to auto detect drives, it returns "unknown device" for both. What gives?

I would first try going into Device manager and deleting the drives. Then reboot and see if they are detected.
