CD-DVD Burner not detected?

Hello everyone!

I recently tried burning a CD (which I haven't done in about 6 months), and for some reason windows just won't allow me to burn. Here is the situation:

When I use Windows media player (11 series) I see a small image at the top right hand corner of the burn screen that says, "Connect a burner and reset the player."

When I just bypass Windows media player and attempt to burn through Windows by directly copying the files into the drive, and then burning them I get one of two errors: 1. The CD that I am using is not writable (which it is because I have checked them on other computers that DO work). 2. "There was an error in the writing process," although the process hadn't even begun, there was somehow an error. AND, when I insert a writable disc, the drive will read it, but only if Windows was booted with the disc already in the drive.

So here's what I've got:

SONY DVD-ROM/CD-RW
and
SONY DVD-RW/CD-RW

The Master and slave settings are correct because the BIOS is detecting them both.

Any input is helpful

 

Boy, was that a quick solution or what?! Well I guess that this can be concidered an informaion thread. hahaha... I found out that because I have Game Drive 9.0 Installed that it disabled my burners somehow. Sorry for the waste of a thread, and thanks to any that were already searching for an answer!
