Hi, i have Cheetah cd/dvd burner just a couple questions, 1) when i burn a cd with music it will only work on my lap top but when i put the cd in my stereo it won't play it but when i download the trial version of Nero 8 and burn the cd it will play in every stereo, 2) also when burning a movie i download from Azureus cheetah will play on lap top and my dvd player but wont play on all, but nero 8 will play on all dvd players but nero takes forever to finish, am i doing anything wrong in cheetah? is there another free program to where they will play on everything? i just don't want to pay that much money for nero, thanks.

With the music CD, Cheetah either isn't converting the music to .cda format, or it isn't finalizing the disc. Both of these reasons would explain why the music CD doesn't play in a regular CD player. For the movies, we can't really encourage the use of pirated/bootlegged movies downloaded from torrent sites. With DVD movies only costing about $5-$10, it seems a bit ridiculous to spend hours and to tie up all that bandwidth to download a free movie when you can get the full feature for under $10.

Cheetah should be able to burn an audio CD. Make sure you are selecting the proper format. As for DVDs, burn the disc at no more than 4x speed. Some players are picky.

Downloaded movies are usually in AVI (or DivX/XVid) format. Unless your DVD player supports DivX playback (some do, most don't) you'll have to convert the movie to a DVD compliant format; this will include VOB files, IFO files, BUP files, and a VIDEO_TS folder and an AUDIO_TS folder (which is usually empty). DVDFlick works great. It's free, and easy to use. It will convert and burn the AVI to a standard DVD for playback in your home player. Just be sure to put a blank DVD in the burner before starting the conversion process. Be patient, even on high end PCs, it can take over an hour to convert and burn a full length movie. Older PCs may take 3-4 hours. You can download DVDFlick from this link. The DVDFlick how-to guide can found HERE. It's easy to use and the default settings should be fine until you become more adept at using it. There's many good paid programs too; WinAVI and VSO's ConvertX are two that come to mind.
I hope this helps! Good luck!
