CD/DVD Drive is not reading - Help

I recently reformatted my computer to Windows XP SP3 then i upgraded it to Windows Vista Home Premium SP2.

After going through many updates and such, the OS/computer was working fine, until i tried to throw in a cd to install.

The drive took in the cd, made a proper loading sound, but did not load the cd at all. The cd/dvd drive acts properly in the computer since i can eject it from my computer(right click ->eject) The drivers are updated, and i reinstalled the drive 3 times, and still no avail. I tried the regedit method where you delete the filters but I did not have any filters to delete. I also tried the FixIt by microsoft and it just keeps checking and checking.

I don't think that the drive is broken because I just used both the Windows XP and Vista CDs today to install the OS.

The Drive is a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H652L ATA Device.

 

Did you run this fix from Microsoft here?

Try installing this firmwire update for your drive. click on sp26842.exe to download from that page. Which claims to fix the issue with reading disks when upgrading from XP to Vista.

Curious are you running 32 or 64 bit operating system?

 

I'm using Windows Vista Sp2 Home premium 32bit

 

Both things you have suggested MainDeity did not work. The FixIt keeps scanning for additional problems and it never fixed the cd/dvd drive and the other link you gave me did no comply with my OS.

 

Can someone close this thread? I just solved it.

After rebooting and updating my computer several times, I ran FixIt again and after an hour, it completed and fixed the problem.
