CD/DVD drive just disappeared!

    My DVD drive just disappeared, it was working a couple of days ago, and no Windows updates have installed since then.

    It doesn't show up in Device Manager, I don't know what to do besides a system restore :cry

    Sorry for the late reply ASF:) Is this a laptop or desktop? Post the make and model of the computer if possible along with your version of windows.

    Can you confirm the drive has power,opens and closes and accepts disks? If so first thing to try is to check bios,tap "Del." just after the computer is turned on,open "standard cmos features" and make sure your drive is listed.

    HP Pavillion dc6700 laptop, it has power and it spins, I have not changed anything in the BIOS.
