hi guys, i recently (like 10 minutes ago) replaced my cd writer with a dvd writer. but for some reason the cd and dvd drives are not showing in 'my computer'. now this is not the first time i've had this problem, so i've used microsofts resolution (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=314060) and it worked perfectly. however, when i try to follow this again, the Upper and lowerfilters aren't showing so i dont dare delete any other reg values. if its any help, i've been into the computer management and the drives aren't showing there either..

if anyone could help me then that would be just great :)

If it worked perfectly why did you try and do it again?

You might try view>show hidden devices

Try uninstalling the drive from Device Manager, then rebooting and letting Windows automatically detect it.

Also, start at the beginning, is the drive displayed correctly in the Bios?
