CD/DVD Drive problems

I got a Dell Inspiron 1501 notebook for school for my birthday a few weeks back, and it's been great so far. Just today though.... I came back from being home over the weekend and have been doing the normal stuff on my comp, no problems, then tonight I decide to pop in a movie and go to sleep. But.... when I hit the button to eject the disc drive, nothing happened at all. After a couple tries, I got a staple and manually opened the drive via the tiny hole. I put the movie in and for some reason my computer does not register a disc drive at all when I open Windows Media Player. However, if I go into Device Manager, it says it's working fine.

Help? I really wanna watch Van Wilder.

if you go to my computer, do you see the cd/dvd drive? i'm assuming it should be d:? if not, you might want to check and make sure if the drive is removable, that it is plugged in good. since it's a laptop, it could have come loose. since it won't eject, it sounds like the drive could have been damaged or is not plugged in good.
