I recently purchased a new DVD/CD Burner. I'm not trying to do anything complicated, but want to be able to take videos and burn them to something that will play in a DVD player to watch on TV. I need to buy a new camera as well, but don't want to spend several hundred dollars. My previous camera also took videos as well as stills, and the type of file they show up on my computer as is .mov, and a Quicktime file. But I'm unable to burn them to a CD as a video file - the Nero s/w tells me the file type is not supported. So my question is this - can anyone tell me what type of camera I should look for that will let me then put my files on CD or DVD to play on a tv? Thank you so much for any help. LauraJ

First, there are plenty of software programs that allow you to convert .MOV files to various formats suitable for DVD. I havent had the need for this myself so I cant recommend one, but they are certainly available. (google 'mov to dvd')

Second, if you are looking for a new camera, I'm assuming you mean a new digital still camera that also has short video capability? If so, I highly recommend Canon. They are great cameras and the video format they commonly use is .AVI which Nero can easily use to make DVD's if thats your favorable method.

Thank you very much - that's the 2nd Canon reccomendation I've received, so I think I'll go with that - and I wasn't aware of the s/w - you were a big help - thanks again!!!

Make it three recommendations for Canon. I bought a Canon Powershot A610 over Christmas. Awesome camera.

Canon Digital Ixus 50 and 55 are excellent.

Whatever you get, make sure it has rechargeable batteries, or you will need to factor in the cost of buying them.

    Alkaline don't last long.
