CD/DVDW problems..help please

    My pc is an HP AMD Athlon(tm) IIX2 250 1.60ghz, 64 bit os, hp CD/DVDW TS-L633N SATA CD Rom, my OS is Win7 homepremium.

    My problem is this. I am a graphic designer with psp and use many, many graphics. Over the years all my graphics are stored on discs that I record from my pc. This pc is a new one, about 6 months old. Until yesterday when a cd is put in I have been able to view that cd or burn a cd. Now when a cd is put into the drive, my only options are to burn or play an audio cd. It isn't recgonizing a cd that is full of images. What can I do? I've went into my device manager and everything is currently updated. I've run my avg and all is well there.

    thanks for getting back with me, i've run the scan and it didn't fix the drive, now i can't even get the door for the cd/rom to open :(

    Use a straightened paper clip to force the drive open if there is a disk in the drive. There will be a small pinhole to put the clip in. I usually open a drive this way when a computer is off and I have a disk that I want to boot from.
    You might want to buy an external drive and see if that reads your disks. (Or perhaps a friend has an external optical drive that you can borrow to see if your disks can be read).

    Go into Device Manager and uninstall the ROM .. Reboot and see if that fixes it as it could well be a corrupt driver.
