CD Key???

Hi, I hope this doesn't sound like the typical I wanna steal a cd post... I have a cd that upgrades MS Works to MS word, excell, etc. I've had the cd for a few years and the problem is that I lost the cd key you need to use to install the program. I've got a new pc so need to reinstall. Is there anyway to get the cd key back so I can reinstall it?- - - This is a true and serious post so please don't reply with "you worthless hacker, thief etc" type posts.

key for works, or the upgrade?
Ms products allow you to upgrade without the previous version being installed, usually.

 

The cd took the regular ms works suite things, like word pad, or any other MS word processor and converted it over to the the ms office stuff like word excell and (I forget the database app name.) Right now I have wordpad but need things saved as .doc ie. ms word so I can do the whole apply online options for jobs. Yes I know it sounds messed up but thats the best I can explain it. If anyone knows a word processor that will save things the same as word does then that would work too.

Also, sounds like you have an office upgrade.

If you put it in, it will ask for the works cd to qualify it for installation. Shouldn't need the key.

Abi Word did it for me! will try the other things you guys suggested tomorrow when I'm not so pressed for time. THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH FOR THE HELP!!! When all else fails ask the geeks! works everytime!
