Hello. Ive posted here before with great results so I'll try again. I just replaced my cd drive from my dell optiplex gx260 with the drive from a hp pavillion and it will not work. All that happens when I put in a cd is i hear it trying to spin but it doesnt read. does that mean that the drive is bad or is something hooked up wrong?please help

have you installed they drivers for the one from hp? also why it is connected go to device manager and see if there is a yellow mark in the window next to dvd/cd drive

    You lost me.
You have a purchased CD which the drive does not read.
Is the CD for Vista or is it a CD with the Vista OS on it?
    Upload what?
