CD-R problem

Ok first and foremost if it makes any difference (probably not) I will admit im useing a dell computer.

Ok so here is my problem, I made a back up cd for some stuff like my favorites and other stuff on a cd, but I forgot to click on "make readable on other computers". but until now this was not a problem, but like I said im useing a dell. (The way my computer was set up was that it had windows, my CD wrighting program, and several other programs saved on the ROM, and when something cased me to delete every thing I just pushed a few buttons and it was reset back to factory default. That happened alot since as I found out just recently my hard drive was faulty.) When ever I had to delete every thing the computer could still read the disc after set back to factory default, but I just had dell replace my hard drive but they gave me a completely blank hard drive. After I finally finished reinstalling everything (when I first got my computer they gave me the disks for ALMOST everything.... they forgot the drivers I needed for the Internet :cry ) my CD-R drive wont register whats on that disk any more, it says its full but wont show anything I had on that disk. Is their any way I can get the stuff off that disk?

Ya I know I probably wrote way to much.

Thanks manmachine for the reply, but I tryed what it said in that post, but my disk says that 0kb are used are used and there are 0kb free, and I couldn't finalize my disk. Also it said "Please insert an appendable data disk that is CD meda or DVD wright-once meda." when I tryed to finalize it.

 

Do you know what program you were using to write to cds before

ie: adaptec, nero etc ?

 

I think it was Roxio Creator LE Dell Edition. And thats what im useing now too.

Thanks for trying shanemail, but that program doesent seam to work=( every time I try to use it on that disk it comes up with a error :cry.
If I use my cd wrighting program and try to format the disk do you think that will work, or will it just erace all my files or just not work at all?

 

You may have to be patient
Someone will know of a way around this, you will get the right reply at some stage.
There is generally less posting on the weekends

If it is a CDR you most likely will not be able to reformat it
If it is a CDRW you should be able to reformat it but this will wipe all files.

In the meantime I would try going to Roxios web site and see if they mention a workaround
