cd-r/rw drive not working correct

my cd-r/rw has been failing to produce working cds .
first i made two music cds that looked to be normal but it actual did n't have any music on it but it did have the files on the disk. next i did disk copy . made a succesful copy of a game. than i tried to make a vcd but was plauged with errors. all my music and video files are from kazza. no virus detected with norton. i use nero but have had others like roxio. i have n't even burned 50 cds with this new burner. what is going on?
i have p4 winme system ,LG GCE-8481B cd-r/rw with underburn protection, 40 gig hard drive, 256 mb ram, i use nero burning rom

 

are you saying that even both roxio and nero gave you the problem? you said you used nero, but did you try roxio to see if the problem persisted? are you using windows xp? if you are, also test it out by using the burning capability in winxp. also, download easy cd da extractor and test it out. you don't have to waste your cd, just use a cdrw so you can rewrite it. just to test out to determine if it's the software problem or your burner. if all applications failed, i suggest you ask for a replacement if your burner is still under warranty.

 

Have you checked for all the latest driver and program updates? Also do the Microsoft Update if you haven't already. And remember, don't throw away ruined cd's, they make excellent coasters. Even the CD-RW's, which I'm using now. Even they are not industructible.

 

Sometimes, just using the wrong CDR's can cause probs. Try switching brands.

 

so i installed my version of roxio and burned a sucsesful music cd , but tried using nero again and failed i get different errors each time. why would nero just stop working i' ve made plenty of good cds on nero before . my nero is a cracked version. im not sure if roxio will keep working because i' ve only had time to do 1 cd.
