CD Recording Software Problem

I am running windows xp home and everytime I boot up I get an error message that I will paste later, it appears it comes from Roxio that was possibly preloaded but not on now. I have loaded a free version of roxio, didn't fix it, then tried to uninstall wouldn't let me(missing file or something) so I was directed to a windows roxio removal page where I deleted everything manually including registry entries, Now I still have the same error message and a c++ error from roxio.
I do have Nero on my box now but it still will not allow me to write to any cd or dvd. I have updated all drivers and software, ran regcure and everything else I can think of but nothing helps.

I am still getting these same errors, nothing has worked so far, any other suggestions.

Have you tried enabling CD recording on the drive ?

This may have been disabled by the other burning software.

My Computer. Right click the CD drive. click Properties. Click the Recording tab at the top.
Make sure the box is checked where it says "Enable CD recording on this drive".

 

Common files/roxio was removed and cd and dvd recording is enabled.

I know how to run msconfig and nothing with roxio is running.
