I just reinstalled Windows XP on my computer, and everything was ok, except the sound, but that's not the point. One day, my CD drive didn't detect any CD I put in it. Is there a fix for this?

P.S. I'm using an ATAPI CD Rom Drive 50 max

Is autoplay enabled? You can check by right-clicking the drive in My Computer, and checking that all the settings are correct on the Autoplay tab.

If the drive is older, you might try purchasing a cleaning CD. I've found this helps ALOT when a CD drive doesn't detect disks.

Sometimes, even that will nto be detected if the lens is REALLY dirty. I've sometimes had to, (despite recommendations against it) disconnect the drive, open it right up, and gently brush off the lens with a q-tip.

Thanks for the help. It worked.
