I have an old SONY CD-ROM Drive Model #CDU31A-LL.
I want to install it in My Granddaughters Computer.
    Is there a driver required?
Will it be picked up on Booting into WIN-98?
I've tried SONY and Driversguide .com to no avail.
Appreciate any help you can give me.
GD is only 5 years old and uses computer to run Pre-School learning CDs.
    Thanks
    Harry

    Hi and welcome to MajorGeeks.

You don't require a driver for Windows 98, nor do they make one.

Windows has native support, just install the drive and it will do the rest.

Ok I'll load the unit. If it goes OK I'll let you know.

It will. As Insomniac said, drivers have not been needed since Windows 95 or so. You used to have to load them into DOS back in the day, but you can literally swap CDROMS in and out all day long and Windows will pick it up or remove it as needed.
