CD-ROM opens and closes by itself

    My cd-rom has been opening and closing by itself for about 6 months, I know I am not very computer wise. I have installed the new version of norton but no luck, I installed and ran a scan with AD-Aware SE Personal, but while it found some junk in there, it didn't solve the problem. I am at my witts end, thanks to anyone who can help.

    aLLiKZar It's not too late to back out!

    Are you sure the button isn't getting stuck?

    Sounds pretty freaky, opening and closing at random times.
    I think that the drive might be starting its path to the garbage.
    Do you have another drive to try? Is this from a newer or older
    machine?
