I recently went to Italy where i took pictures then burned them to two CDs. I brought the CD's back and only one of the two worked. The other registry's the that some of the memory is used, but there are no files... Is there some way to access these files?

If possible try the disc in the same computer you burnt it in. Also try a different computer than the one you are using now.

Does an explorer window open but just not show any files?

Are the CD's RW or just CD-R?

Usually the problem of Windows seeing the disc as containing no data has to do with packet writing software used for RW discs.

On the computer that shows no files, you could try isobuster http://majorgeeks.com/IsoBuster_d4717.html
It looks like the trial version will extract from a CD if it is CDFS file system. But you need a registered version for UDF filesystem. In My Computer right click the CDROM drive and choose properties, it will tell you what the filesystem is and if it is CDFS see what isobuster can do for you.

I checked what type of file system it is and it had nothing next to it

I only have discs that are easily read so I can only guess at what you are seeing. In the left pane make sure in the drop down box your CDROM drive is listed. Below that it should show some basic top level file system (in my case DVD-R) and if I keep clicking the > next to this to expand the view I see more directories. Right clicking on a file gives me the option to extract(which I guess means copy to my HD).

I am having some issues with disks that I use to burn movies onto. I have tried DVD-R and DVD-RW. The movie burns onto the disk like its suppose to because I can watch it on my computer. I try to put the same disk into my home DVD player and it tells me unknown disk. Can anyone tell me what disks I am to be using I am getting a bit frustrated. Thank you for taking e time to read this.

Not a pro, but found out the hard way that the company laptop software has built in programing if you do not complete the burn the cd will only readable on that laptop. Major pain in the south end. program they use for burning is Sonic -called DLA (drive letter access). google detail but you must push "make Compatible" so other computers can read. Not sure why but may have something to do with firewall that is set up on the system network. Had this same thing happen to me and took a week of intercubical (used to be call SEA LAWYERS) "Have you tried this?" befor the 'IT':confused depatment told me to complete the burn process. again not sure if this is the same, if it is possible send the disc back to a freind and have them complete burn process if the one you used has sonic.

austford, it is best to start a new thread to avoid confusion.

Are the files in DVD format (a VIDEO_TS folder and an AUDIO_TS folder)? You have to burn them as video files not data files. ImgBurn gives you this option.

Also if you have your DVD player manual, in the first couple of pages it should tell you which disc types it can play. Check to see if it prefers DVD+R over DVD-R.

Yes Teddy, I learned the hard way as well. That's when I plunked down my money and bought Nero to be done with that nonsense. I'm hoping that something like IsoBuster may be able to read the disc even though it wasn't finalized.

At first i get a Read error that says "The PathTable (JOLIET) couldn't read properly Only 0 of 1 Blocks could be read. Read Error at address : 346400 Device reported Error : 05/21/00"

Then i click ok and get Read Error that says "The folder couldn't be read properly Only 0 of 4 Blocks could be read. AN unknown amount of file will be inaccessible. Device reported Error : 05/21/00"

After those Errors i do get the CD at the top level then Session 1 then Track 1 then 03_APR_2008 with a red box that says ISO and a blue box with 3 > saying 03 apr 2008
