Cd Rom

Hi there im new to the forum and i am havin troubles after i installed my new cdrom........i installed an ATAPI CD ROM SS- PHILLIPS SPD2413P and i keep getting this at the bottom of the page : secondary master drive- ATAPI Incompatible.........press <F4> to resume.......which when i press F4 it boots up windows no problem and honestly i can use the drive cause ive burned a few movies since ive installed it and plus i play cdrom games on my system so it works ........i just wanna know why its giving me this and is there a way around it.

I've had this issue a few times over the years, it is often suggested that the BIOS is not set correctly.
If you hit the Delete button on your keyboard (or whichever button is necessary to enter Setup on your machine), you could check if it is set to Auto (should be under 'Standard CMOS Setup').
If it already is, one workaround which has worked for me a couple of times is to change the actual drive's position on the IDE cable. If that doesn't work, connect another IDE CD drive to the same IDE channel, and using trial and error, see if you can get it to work by putting one drive first and the other in second position on the cable.
Another trial and error method which sometimes helps is to experiment with the position if the jumper connector on the drive. If it's set to master and this isn't working, try it on Cable Select, or even slave.
