Dell 4400 windows xp sp-2 Neither of my cd-roms will play any audio or video cd's. No auto play etc. I have not been inside the case to knock wires loose, They will spin when disk is inserted, hourglass on monitor will flash off and on when disk is inserted, I have tried to manually start autoplay ... nothing happens.
    Any Ideas?

The drivers for the CD-ROM units are probably either corrupted or missing. Go to start and then control panel and then to systems. Click on device manager then click on the plus by CD-ROM and then right click on each CD-Rom and delete them. Then restart your computer. Then go back to the control panel and click on add hardware. Your computer will recognize the CD-ROM hardware and and install them and the drivers. This worked for me. Give it a try.
