I add pictures and videos to the cd im trying to burn. It spends 20 minutes loading the files. It finalizes but when I try to open the cd, it freezes my computer for 15 minutes and then it shows no files on the cd. This is frustrating.

What program are using to burn the CD?

You could put all the pics/videos in a folder and then use CDBurnerXP to burn a data disc.

I've had very good luck with CDburnerXP burned CDs being readable on all PCs.

Thats the program I used. It finished burning the cd it said but when I try to load the cd the drive with the cd freezes and the program trying to open it, for like 10 minutes and when the cd light goes off there is none of the files on the cd.

Are you putting a blank disc in or are you formatting it in Windows first? You should be using a unformatted disc.

You could also try ImgBurn it is a favorite here.

yeah Im taking these cd's straight out of the wrapper. When I tried to verify the files it said that it did not verify any of them because it couldn't find its destination folder.

I'm sorry, I've just never had a problem with CDBurnerXP. I usually use Nero for most of my burning but go with CDBurner when Nero has a problem(usually on a file that barely will fit on a CD).

ImgBurn is more popular than CDBurnerXP and has an option for data files. It's free can't hurt to try.

Are the CDs RW or -R?

I shouldnt have to be doing any of this. Before the program roxio that came with my computer worked and now all of a sudden its screwed up. It does everything, it loads the pics and movies, it even takes 20 minutes to put them on the cds but when I try to open the files my rom drive or the program trying to open the files stalls.

Have you burnt with the CD drive before? Try updating the firmware.

Here's that darn Roxio again, it caused me so many problems in the past (even after it was uninstalled) I gave it the boot and haven't used it since. Try your disks in another pc at a friend or a relatives house to see if they are reading there. Its possible that darn Roxio is messing with your machine. I hate to say, uninstalling did no good for me. I have tried Roxio two times and I ended up reformating my drive to fix things both times. There are some nice uninstall tools which I didn't have back then like "windows installer cleanup" and driver cleaner pro" and perhaps following that with an sfc /scannow in the run box might do the trick getting rid of Roxio's changes. But I have found that Roxio does things deep into the system that other burners do not, why they do that is a mystery, I have always been of the mind that they can't or won't fix their software so they change your system instead to work with their software.
