CD writer wont burn audio cd

I have a Toshiba Notebook Satelite A85@1400 mhz.Im runningXPSP2 with 1024 Ram and 80g HD w/10g free
I have a MATSHITA UJDA750 dvd/cdrw drive
It had been working perfectly than all of a sudden I started getting the Error message-Windows Media cannot burn these files. Either lower burning speed(which I did-all the way down to 16x) or change brands of cds(which I did-I went from Office Depot to Memorex) but I still get the error message.
Windows Media Player inspects,and converts each song but when it starts the burn is when I get the message. I even tried changing drivers but windows tells me I have the latest drivers.
I have 1 month left on my warranty. Can this be repaired or should I bring it in for replacement

 

I believe i would download a trial of some sort,[nero,roxio,sonic] and see if it will burn anything with one of them, if it wont you will know the writer is more than likely shot. ed
