Hi folks, I recently tried to rip tunes from a cd that evidently has some sort of copy protection. I use an old, small, but efficient prog called MP3Toolz v2.0 downloaded from a Scandinavian site back when it was illegal to get a ripper. The problem is that after that, MP3Toolz gives the error message: "NO CD ROM DRIVES FOUND," then "CDDAE99 MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The MORE INFO says: AppName: cddae99.exe AppVer: 0.2.0.0 ModName: cddae99.exe
    ModVer: 0.2.0.0 Offset: 00002e18

I've used another prog to rip other cd's since & am perfectly willing to just uninstall MP3Toolz, but now, though I can rip and play CD's, my computer mic doesn't function in any of my recording programs (NERO Wave editor and Audacity 1.2) and from what I can glean from info on the web, this CDDAE99 issue could be the cause.

Question: Could this CD have maliciously effected the CDDAE99 program as I suspect and if so, where do I find a copy and how (and where) do I replace it? What folder should it be in, are there supporting files, etc.

Your assistance is deeply appreciated --
