cdr/dvd combo drive

Hi all

I hope someone can help me cos this is driving me mad I have a self build running win xp home with all current update available installed. The problem is with my sony cd-r/rw/dvd-rom combo drive. Model CRX320EE.

The device works fine except that it wont read dvd's. It reads cd,s and burns cd's fine. I have been to sony site and they havnt got it listed, I have looked all over the web including microsoft, all with no joy! I did read that because it's OEM sony wont write drivers for it and as windows has just installed it as a standard cd rom. So my question does anyone know of a compatible driver which i could install or know of a fix which would allow the drive to play DVD's

All the drivers you need are provided by your Windows OS.
Check Device manager for problems
R & R your drive, While pc is off disconnect your CD/DVD drive,While drive is disconnected boot to windows, then shut down PC reconnect the CD/DVD drive Then reboot PC again, Windows will reinstall the cd/dvd drive & drivers.

What kind of DVD are you trying to read?
