CDROM no longer works

I Have tried unistaling and reinstalling CDROM driver and updating driver and was told I have latest driver.

did you try running a chkdsk. Something like this should not happen under normal circumstances.

 

I've just ran chkdsk, it took 2hrs but cd still has same prob. so I uninstalled driver and reset pc still same problem.

Could cd connection have come loose inside tower?

If a connection had come loose, Vista would not see a driver for the CD-Rom at all.
