Cedyne External CDROM

Hi

i have a cendyne cd-rw drive (model# CXR-2X40B) and i'm running Windows 98. And after i installed it, the drive would play compact discs, but it won't burn cds. I also installed the Nero Software and the only recorder it would show was an image recorder. When i try to access the drive from My Computers it says that its not accessible and the device is not ready. I went to the manufacturers website but they are no longer providing any support for my model. What should i do?

make sure the jumper on the rear of the cd-rom is on master, if indeed its alone on the ide cable.
check the ribbon cable, make sure its connected good.
change power connector also.
try removing the cdrom from device manager, reboot, let windows reinstall
