Certain folders hidden

This is weird. I had some nasty malware or spyware or a virus I removed, but now Most of my files are hidden. I have to manually go in and un hide them, and this is really annoying as its happening to SO many files.

Is this a common fix? like my pictures, documents etc. not ALL of them, but almost all.

What operating system version and Service Pack # are you using?

What was the specific "nasty malware or spyware or a virus"? Was this something that you cleaned on your own, or did you go through the Malware Forum's Read & Run Me First guide?

 

haha sorry, i totally forgot to mention that. I have windows 7 and im very embarrassed I can't find the service pack number. and I did most of the read and run me. I think it may be just a hdd related issue.

 

No problem - since it's Win 7, you probably haven't progressed to Service Pack #1.

Try this real quick: go to Control Panel > Folder Options > View > Advanced Settings. Select "Show hidden files, folders and drives" and OK out. Are your pictures, documents, etc. still hidden?

 

yeah. ive done it. If i do it manually they re-appear but I can't get them all to show. I attached a photo.
