change boot seq?

I have a system with dual boot of Linux and Win 2000.
Is there a way to change which OS is the default?
I use Win 2000 most of the time but Linux is the default and
if we miss the startup we need to reboot.
Would anyone know how to change this or if it can be changed?

 

Yes, it can be changed. How to change it depends on if Win2K or Linux is controlling choices. If it is Linux, then let us know if LILO or GRUB is controlling the choices.

Report back with that info, and we can give instructions on how to change it.

How do I know what the controlling choices is. I want Win 2000 to be the default.

 

When the options appear on the screen, hit any of the arrow keys to stop the countdown for it to choose the default option. Then check the screen, if it is all black, it may be Windows 2000 controlling it, if it has color, read the screen near the top and bottom looking for LILO or GRUB.

Once we know which of the 3 is controlling the boot order, we may have to just edit a text file to change which is the default.
