I read the first link and see the below in the inf file.
    [autorun]
    OPEN=SETUP.EXE
    ICON=SETUP.EXE

But then not sure WHEN I SEE THIS, Move the Autorun.inf file and the Mxoicon6.ico file to your external hard drive and restart the computer.
Because its a virtual drive or am i missing something.

I have also mounted the image if that helps.

Yes. That's what Daemon Tools creates.
Unmount the image. Do you see a regular CD/DVD-ROM icon?

When i unmount the image the drive is gone

Bear with me... I haven't used Daemon Tools in a while, I use other image drives in Windows.
Can you not select the number of image drives which is a feature in all such programs?

I'm not sure but currently it's working fine apart from the icon, let me explain.
The files are in a folder in my C drive.
I have also then zipped them up and now an image on my desktop.
I use run as date, point to the exe file in the folder on the C drive and created an icon in the task bar.
I use daemon tools to mount the zipped up image.
When I need to use this software I just click the icon in the task bar.

The autorun.ini file should be the one in the zipped up image correct ?

    Yes.
In order for a custom icon to show instead of the drive icon, you must have an autorun.ini file. And then you 'tell' the file which icon to use. Setup.exe is the norm.
However, if you see the icon in your first post then the setup file contains no icon. Do you see that icon when you look at the setup file?

The current ini file has the text ICON=SETUP.EXE

It does say anything like ICON=mydriveicon.ico etc etc

I would need to check what the setup file looks like.
I put a new ini file and it's image in the C drive folder and zipped them up but when I go to mount it Daemon tools crashes 1/2 way through.
I then downloaded a couple ISO editors to just delete the old ini file with mine but it will not save over 500Mb as it's a trial.

Didn't think something so small would be a big deal.

Regardless of what ini file etc is used can't something in the registry be done to just ignore it and say this is the default icon get used to it etc.

    I didn't say this.

    1. The ISO file, where is it from?
    2. Why is it in a ZIP file when you can mount an ISO file in Daemon tools?
    3. Look at the EXE file. What does it look like?

How would you suggest to do this ?

I have my set up which works fir me apart from the icon change.
You mentioned in the list question 1,2,3 I assumed my setup is wrong etc.
So I asked how would you do it.

I would not put the ISO file in a ZIP file - it's not necessary.
I would like to see whether the EXE file looks like the image in your post #1.

    I will check tomorrow.
Is there anything I should do or change depending if it is or isn't the same.

    Thanks for your time.
