How do I change the size of partitions on a computer (without formatting)? It is a Windows XP home edition, one hard disk, and two NTFS partitions on the hard disk. One partition is mainly for programs and the other is mainly for file storage. The partition for programs has run out of space, so I want to allocate some more space to that partition. This is my friend’s computer, and she doesn’t want to format the computer for certain reasons. So, if you have any good suggestions where I can somehow change the size of a partition and have all the programs and data back to the way they were before, that’s good too. Obviously, I’ll be backing up all the data before hand just in case. Thank you.

If you don't have the $ to shell out for Partition Magic you can try ..
Partition Logic it is supposed to resize...
    definatley backup first!

There's another app called BootIT NG that I've used a bazillion times to perform safe partition resizes. The download creates a bootable floppy which launches a Windows-like environment chock full of HD tools. As far as I know it's free.... I've been using it for over a year w/o problems....
