Change UDMA 4-5?

How do I change my UMDA from 4 to 5. I have run Everest Home Edition,it says my HD. is capable of umda 5 but umda 4 is enabled. I have a HP. 520W,1200 mhz,512mb sdram, XP. home. Thanks.

 

Well it should enable automatically unless there is another drive or cdrom on the same channel that is not capable of using 5. in which case everything on the channel will be set to run at the same speed as the slowest device on the channel. If the drive is by itself on the channel, it is possible that the controller is not capable of operating at 5. A good thing to do is goto the website of the manufacturer of your hard drive and see if there is a utility to download that will enable the faster speed on the drive, but only after you verify the above conditions first.
