changing file folder picture

    In windows xp does anyone know how you change the folder picture? I put in a new hard drive over the weekend,and I can't get the picture to change this would be the one in my downloads for example or the shared folder where you store music that is downloaded.Thanx!

    Right-click on the folder icon and select properties. Click the change icon button, then you can select a different icon from the Windows icon file or browse to a file containing the icon you wish to use, as long as it is in .ico (Windows icon file) format. You can download icons online, but be careful, some of the free ones are packaged with spyware. You can do this with any icon.

    That didn't work for some reason, none of the icons in the folder changed I used to have the windows media icon,but it's gone now

    If you are referring to MP3 files and such in the folder, go to the toolbar, click tools then go down to folder options. Click on the file types tab then scroll down to the MP3 or other supported music file type and click on it. Click on the change button and select WMP to open the file on the window that is opened. Click OK, then apply then close it
