My sis just bought a new pc. The guy that sold it to her put in a modem, but she has DSL. Can I just take the modem out and insert the NIC card for the DSL and then install her software for the DSL?

    TIA!

yup; shouldnt be a problem. If anything look at the add/remove programs list and see if that modem has some special software installed pertinant to it and remove it so it doesnt bug you. Be sure you have the correct drivers for your NIC card. GL

also most new motherboards have built in NIC, so worth looking for the ethernet port at back of PC, may save having to install an additional card?

n.b. you may have to turn the onboard NIC on in the BIOS if not already on.
