Changing from McAfee to.....

Hi all,
My subscription to McAfee has run out. I have been looking for a replacement and have decided that Avast Home Edition looks to be the best out there. I also have personal firewall from McAfee. I plan on uninstalling it also, which firewall would be the best compatable with Avast?

Yep!!! I uninstalled/deleted all of McAfee files and programs, was running personalfirewallplus 5.0 & virusscan 8.0. The best thing to happen for me was that the subscription ran out and I decided to change to AVG Free Edition and Zone Alarm. Seems that one/both of the McAfee programs were causing a freeze-up, every 15-20 minutes my computer would freeze for about 20 seconds. I had thought it to be spy/adware etc. etc. but did a housecleaning(really needed it) but that didn't help.
The AVG Free Edition scanned my computer in under 30 minutes, while McAfee always took between 4 and 5 hours...
AVG Free Edition is worth buying, but it's free!!! WOW!!! Sometimes you get MORE than what you pay for!!!
