    Hi
Running Norton anti virus and system works I decided to remove norton anti virus due to high subscription costs, I have removed and installed AVG. I removed via controll panel add and remove progs, I notice that the toolbar still has the Norton tab and also the recycle bin is still Norton. After reading other threads I tried to download the norton removal tool but keep getting the message page cannot be displayed.(any thoughts)

Also is there a free program to replace the Norton System Works as this subscription is due for renewal?

    Many thansk, once againLOL

Try using Revo Uninstaller download from this link http://majorgeeks.com/Revo_Uninstaller_d5706.html i think you may be better off doing a system restore first, to return your system back to before you uninstalled Norton, that way when you use Revo you'll be able to uninstall full program from the offset !

    Thanks Rusty !

    Hi

Which Windows version are you using?
Which Broswer? if troubles with IE trying to connect to a page then try Firefox

Download and run the Norton Remoaval Tool from this link to help mop up any left over Norton files and registry settings, also once its complete to just check run CCleaner and its Cleaner and then the Registry tools (run the registry one until nothing is listed for removal)

Then uninstall AVG and run CCleaner again as suggested and then reboot and re-install AVG.

As for Norton Systemworks, dont know off hand a a nice free alternative all in one application but the built in Checkdisk (Chkdsk) and Scandisk commands in Windows can do similar.

For cleanup CCleaner can do this as well as check the registry

For Defrag Auslogic's Free Defrag app is good HERE

For backup then Easeus ToDo is good Norton Ghost type app for imaging/backup.

    and all FREE.
