My insurance company have just replaced my Acer laptop with an Asus after I had an accident with a glass of rum. Various differences beyween the two units have left me wondering whether the 's' in Asus should be an 'n' however the most annoying is the 'Elan' touchpad pointing device which is nearly unusable. Was wondering if this is a feature of the laptop or the operating system which is Windows 7 & whether this can be changed to the 'Synaptics' touchpad driver I had on the Acer (Vista) before. Sorry for the lack of technical knowledge but would be grateful for any assistance before I take a hammer to the thing.
    Thanks

    Hi

Sadly not as the touchpad hardware is different and would need a small but likely costly rebuild of the touchpad hardware on the motherboard and the actual touchpad itself.

Its not a simple fix in say just installing a driver for a different device and your off.... each piece of hardware created by not only the same maker but different makers can have differing hardware components and drivers.

My suggestion to you is do what I generally do in I buy a small Bluetooth or Wireless mouse, much easier to use and I use the Microsoft ARC Mouse at present, small and neat and works well..
