I have recently added a new hard drive to my system and am trying to figure out how to make the new drive the first automatic choice for file storage.
When I open a program that automatically stores something instead of listing or auto going to my "C" drive I would like it to go to my "I" drive.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi

Sadly not all applications support changing of the default save locations, but you can move the My Douments various folders in XP and Vista

    Saves my typing http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/...folder-default-location-path-in-xp-and-vista/

As for other applications if they dont save to this new location you have chosen above you'll need to check their options settings for ways to change,

Microsoft Office can do this and any of the apps apart from Outlook as files are saved in a .pst via....

    • Office 2003
Open the app say Word and click Tools > Options > General then in the Default file location box type or copy and past the new default file location you want.
    • Office 2007
Click the Orb > Word Options (will be different fist name for other apps Excel etc) then click Save in the left hand menu and in the default file location box type or copy and paste the new file location.

For Outlook I personally would leave in default location but you can move it via

For other installed apps you have try using a search engine and type something like.... change default save location or path to XXXX ....... where XXXX is the app in question.
