Changing Product Key

Hi
My windows update has notified me that my version of windows is not genuine. This came as a shock as i have only recently purchased this computer second hand, assuming that everything was above board.
However, i now have a genuine product key from microsoft and i was planning on using the download available on this site to change my prduct key.
I was wondering, though, if by changing my product key in this way, will all my installed/saved files and folders be deleted from my system.
Please help

The following Microsoft Community Newsgroups webpage describes how to change your Product Key (without a reinstall) to match your genuine Product Key (or COA) by using the recently released "official" Microsoft Genuine Advantage Product Key Update Tool.
