    Hi

I'm running win2k and wondered if there was a way of changing the little 'curly arrow' that indicates that a file is a shortcut.

I just kinda wanna replace it with something.

    Any ideas?

    Ta.

Check out Tweak UI from MS as it has a fe functions that may do what you want,, this is the 2k version ... Iknow the XP version will allow the shortcut icon to be changed or removed SO hopefully this will help you

Thanks. I downloaded the file, but i'm still confused. Where do i unzip the files to? I tried unzipping them to the desktop, and dbl-clicking the control panel extension. It says 'This should be run from the control panel. Install?' So i click yeah, and reboot. Trouble is, there isn't anything new in the control panel.

Is there a specific directory the files should be in?

    Thanks again.

It doesn't matter where you unzip the files. I created a folder on my C: drive called TweakUI and unzipped to that. I think this is what you didn't do:
    1. after you unzip there will 4 files
    2. right click on " tweakui.inf "
    3. then left click " Install ".
    4. Now open the Control Panel. You will see a ICON for Tweakui.

and do away with your icons altogether. :D

I have 140+ magicWords instead of icons.

Also check out earlier post for assistance on how to use it.

Click on Start - Run - Type in regedit - click ok
    Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ lnkfile
    Delete the value IsShortcut
    Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ piffile
    Delete the value IsShortcut
Close the Registry Editor and restart Windows

Thats awesome. Thankyou. There is an option there to change the shortcut buttons.

    Thanks everyone else too!

Another way is in RegSeeker. Go to tweaks and check Remove arrow on shortcuts.
