    Hi Guys,

I just had my laptop rebuilt and now when i go to micrsoft, i too am getting a warning about an illegal copy of windows.

I am sure the guys who rebuilt it just dumped a ghosted a build of xp on my machine, and i have tried ROCK XP 3.0 to modify the key, but it doesn't seem to work.

i am wondering if it is because the version of xp is different - ie the laptop came with an oem version, and it now has a pure xp build..

The obvious issue is i can't retrieve any updates for windows or office.

Oh, and xp and office are legit!

Thanks for your help (in anticipation!)

OEM keys do not work with retail copies.

    Ever.

    Not legally, anyway.

Thanks for the tip - i'm not trying to do anything naughty...just want to get back to normal.

I guess the only way is to find the original oem and reimage....

Glad i paid someone to do it in the first place!

    Gulp
