charger problem or it might be the computer itself

I have an acer travelmate 3270 laptop
until recently I had all sorts of viruses on it but I cleared all of them an now I have avast antivirus working 24/7
but sometimes actually many times the charger lamp just goes off until the computer just goes dead ( because my battery is dead and I always have the charger on ). sometimes if I notice when the lamp goes off I unplug the cable connected to the computer and then plug it again it charges for a second then goes off again and so on ,
and I'm positive that my charger is 100 %
any advicerolleyes

 

hay I figured it out
it was the computer itself the place at which the charger jack entered
I replaced it and now as good as new

That's not a charger. It just supplies the power to run the computer and the built in charger in the battery. If the light on the AC adaptor ("charger") goes out then either the power from the wall socket has been interupted or the DC output has been shorted. A short shuts down the adaptor and turns out the indicator light. The adaptor plug could be damaged or the socket in the laptop. Hope this helps a little.

I think he means the charging light on the laptop. Most have an LED that lights up when the power is connected and replacing the socket on the laptop would solve this (assuming the socket was faulty)

He's calling the AC adaptor a charger and refering to the charger lamp. I have had this conversation many times. If he is refering to the charging lamp on the Laptop then what I said still applies but will need several more comments.

I'm so glad that there are guys like you to straghten out this 83 yr old tech with over 60 yrs of experience most of it on phone support for up to 250 service guys all over the world. Even had to go fix it for them when they couldn't get it over the phone.
