Cheat sheets brought unkillable porn

Okay, I am doing really well here, so far, the few problems that I have thrown your way, you have fixed them, and my computer is now running better then ever! Thanks....but there maybe a couple more bugs left! Please hang on with me, lol.

A couple months ago, my nephews were on some sort of cheat sheets site that helped them with video game playing techniques, well, somehow, something happened and some sort of porn crap has gotten into my computer, and not all the time, but a lot of the time, a window will pop up saying "Search Your Favorite Porn" I usually just X out of it, but then the very next thing I will click on, no matter what it usually is, it will appear again, but not always. Sometimes this window looks different, but says the same thing. AND then there are times, when a window appears asking to download some sort of xxx porn toolbar, I hit no, or X out on that too, but it just usually minimizes, and the only way I can get rid of it for a time, is to control, alt, delete it. But I will get it again usually sooner then later.

I run adaware adn spybot, but they did not kill it.

I would love to get rid of this so my nephews do not have to see it everytime they are surfing on my computer...Thanks all!

okay it could be possible that you are getting these popups through windows messenger service, which is more or less an service that most people don't utilize and you can safely disable it...

click on the start menu icon (lower left) open the Run box and type services.msc, scroll down to where it says Messenger, highlight it, right click, select properties, and change the startup type to disabled, then reboot your comp and see if your problem persists or not...

this is my best guess if you said Adaware and Spybot have not helped... also, did you make sure to update your Adaware and Spybot before you ran them? just checking...

also, you can use Alt-F4 to close windows... many of those popups will redirectly you to other sites and sometimes not even let you select "cancel" or "no"... i use Alt-F4 to close most of the windows that bypass my Google Popup blocker...

 

Download, install and run PestPatrol from http://www.pestpatrol.com/.
It is an essential on my PC. Usual caveats apply. Also ,as other MG's will advise you, make sure AdAware and Spybot are up to date. baz

Good point, ME does not have the Messenger service or services.msc...
